Bass Clean signal sounds broken.

Hey guys,

First Post on here but no happy reason.

So I just purchased a new Pedal an dialed it in when I noticed that the clean signal on it's own has a really strange distorted effect to it.
It sounds like a laser beam with a flanger on it or sth. I dont know how to put into words.

Anyway, I tried to lower the PUs (DiMarzio) on my P Bass and even when all the way down, lower than the corpus, I could still hear this Strange noise?

Are the electronics broken or sth?

I swapped the PUs a while ago and I noticed that the owner before did the worst soldering job one can imagine...
I swapped them because I thought the old PUs were clipping but now I think the problem ist sth else.

Hope you guys can help me out :)

If turning down the volume on your bass does not clean up the sound, your pickup is not overdriving the pedal buffer. I would guess it is a buffered pedal, not true bypass to affect clean tone like that.

If bass sounds good straight to the amp, nothing wrong with your pickups.

Very possible the pedal something wrong in it.

What’s the pedal? What kind of bass? Active or passive electronics in the bass? What kind of strings? Listening through an amp or computer or headphones? Need basic information to make any speculation
