Bass Pickups and Radio Signals

That takes me back to dingy rehearsal rooms, rubbish gear, hired amps and tons of youthful enthusiasm... and the local Taxi radio's coming through the speakers when you weren't playing. I remember one time picking up, what sounded like Russian radio!

Check your leads from guitar to amp, and any pedal leads. This is usually a symptom of unshielded leads. If it's your amp, then maybe it's time to have it serviced as well.

So I recently discovered that when I plug in and turn on my amp, if I listen closely I can hear radio broadcasts coming through the amp! I suspect this is due to the pickups. Similar experiences?
One of my combos does this. I use the mid-treble EQ knob as a station selector. At the 9 o'clock position I get classic rock. At the 11 position, contemporary country. At 2, it's - OHH NOOO - NPR!

I keep the amp in my family room and use it as a radio.

Just kidding, of course.
