Bassballs!

Played a classic 90s bassballs at a local store and was digging the vibe.

Upon bringing it home I’ve been tweaking the internal trim pots to play with the sounds I can get.

Anyone have info on the frequencies between the two trim pots on the old model? They are only labeled T1 and T2.

Looking for optimal positions to get some good low mids out of it

Do a search for 'Bass Balls mods' there are several older threads on this. The factory settings are a closely held secret it seems but then that is where the fun is.

Trust me I won’t start a thread on TB without searching high and low for the info I’m looking for. Most threads involve the Nano (which identifies the frequencies).

Was hoping someone with experience tweaking this thing could pass along some advice!

There was a thread about nodding the 90s or NYC versions because I wound with one of the boxes in the thread. Once a BassBalls has been modded it really becomes a completely different pedal altogether, still very cool, but you never can seem to find that original 'factory setting' or a permanent improvement believe me I have spent hours tweaking. For that reason I have some BassBalls stock and some modified. Btw there are a couple of clones worth noting.
Rocktron Heart Attack is a big red box version and Reaction Dynamic Filter
Mooer Sweeper is a mini version with the lo hi trim pots to tweak.

Appreciate your help @bassbrad !

I certainly trust my ear enough to find a sweet spot for me on this pedal, I think after so much time tweaking and playing it was all starting to sound the same

My hopes were someone could clarify which pot was 200k and which was 400k, and with that, what I was effectively doing by adjusting them from the backside of the unit.

Tossed in a couple photos for good measure

Trim 1

Trim 2

With the pointers 11 o'clock and 1 o'clock is close to stock

@DDXdesign is talking both pointers as close to 6 o'clock as possible but you have to crank the sensitivity for this to work

one of my favorite alternative settings is 3 o'clock and 9 o'clock with the sensitivity cranked as well

Oh I have the sensitivity on the front at about 11:00 all the time. Anything to keep all the filtery goodness but eliminate the ping/whistle as much as I can =0)

So based on my photos, it looks like mine is dialed in close to stock already, 11 and 1. Guess after all that turning, I settled on the stock sound, haha.

I recently discovered that it was the addition of a flanger that really made the Bassballs come to life the way I wanted it to

I finally sat down and tried these settings only to find out the Nano is extra confusing, one pot turns opposite of the others and I'm not really sure which is which in the 3 o'clock/9 o'clock version (or even stock, I fiddled with this thing ages ago adn long since lost the picture I took of the settings).

I always want to love my Bassballs, but somehow it never quite does what I want.
