I know this is a bass forum, but this post is gonna be about a guitar. I guess I will justify it by saying there is a bass I am fixing up that is missing a saddle and a tuner lol.

I started dating a guitarist recently. She invited me over last night after our valentine's date. We played around on her guitars a little. I noticed there was a couple things wrong with her favorite guitar, which is a BC Rich bronze. I've never played one before so I don't know anything about that make. Pretty much everything you can think of was wrong with it, plus it's a cheapy one. To justify it, she has had it longer than I have even been a musician. Knobs were loose, jack is worn out, very poor set up with a bad neck shim (the bridge bushings are being pulled out of the body and the bridge pickup is raised to the max). She had it 1 1/2 steps down; said it won't hold a tuning in standard and I lol'ed. I told her I could fix it pretty easily. I tightened up the knobs and told her to bring it over sometime. I am planning on replacing the jack and resetting and intonating her bridge.

My question is, why in TF is the neck angle so awful on these things? She didn't have a screwdriver, so I couldn't take it apart to see if it was shimmed or if it's just poor craftsmanship. It's probably the latter; she said it has never been professionally set up. I would like to fix that for her, but I'm not sure if it's worth it. Does anybody have experience with these guitars that can give me suggestions?
