Received a gift from Sire* (see sig)
I finally made time to check out my newly arrived Sire M7. A few initial comments, pics when I get a chance.
  • Very light, I haven't weighed it yet, but I'd be shocked if it's more than 9 pounds.
  • Neck is thin front to back, side to side is narrowish at the nut and wider up high, like a typical J but less chunky
  • Back of the neck seems to have a "pre-matte" finish, not glossy or sticky - no Scotchbrite needed here!
  • Humbucking pickups sound great.
  • The parallel / series / single coil switching adds substantial flexibility
  • "Trans blue" is more like an aquaburst or teal burst - very nice - not what I expected, but very happy with it - if I'd seen this vs. an all-blue one, I would have chosen this.
  • Setup seem great out of the box. Might raise the pickups a smidge (new strings first though).
  • The pickup blend pot was a bit too tight at first, but got it moving smoothly after a few minutes.
  • I still don't care for the stock D'Addario XL strings, they have a "thin" sound to me
  • The 9v batteries that it came with are the expected not-so-great budget batteries. I'll use them for something else and put good ones in.
Summary: I love it, likely not a huge surprise.
That's all for now, more (and pics) soon.

Oh, and it's a lined fretless - like other fretless Sires, the side markers are in the usual fretted positions, rather than "on the fretlines" (as is normal for unlined fretless) - I'm ok with that, as the edges of the fretline inlays are clearly visible from the side.

A few pics (excuse the dying tomato plants)

Congrats b! I love that color, that's what I'll get if I ever pull the trigger.
Thanks! The only minor comment I've come up with so far is that the color blending of the burst could have been smoother on the upper / bass side. But I'm not at all unhappy with it as is, I think it's gorgeous. :)

Trying to decide what strings to put on, I have new sets of Ken Smith Compressors and Slick (ground/half) Rounds, think I'll try the slicks first (I have compressors on my fretless V7 and know I love them already).

I've replaced the knobs on my other Sires with QParts minidomes, but I rather like these, they're staying. Unless maybe I find some tealburst pearl tops or something. ;)

Hmmmm.....

maybe. :)

When you use the QParts mini domes, what do you use for the lower concentric portions? I don't think QParts does them.
Correct, they do not. I keep telling them they should. The bottoms from the M3 worked just fine, I suspect the ones on the M7 are similar and will as well. I had to replace the V7 bottom knobs with EMG bottoms I found on ebay (lucky enough to find someone selling the bottoms separately).

Congrats, would be any sound clips later, please?:)I am after this particular fretless model and color and look for any information related to.
How would do you compared to V7 ( mean soundwise)to,in term of single to single coil's ? I just wondering between M7 and V7 five strings fretless, but definitely like M7 vision, color and design much more.
