Bergantino HDN112 Stack Versus CN212

I have been gigging a Bergantino CN212 speaker cabinet for many years and it is always superb. Recently I had the opportunity to try an HDN112 for my smaller gigs and it has been superb. It occurred to me that a modular bass rig with a pair of HDN112's would give me a lot more flexibility while delivering the high quality Bergantino sound.

Tonight was an ideal gig where I could compare side by side, alone and in the 'band mix.'
I will add that carrying and carting the pair of HDN112's is very pleasant!

I started with the pair of HDN112's and they sound great!! If I had nothing to compare to, I would never have been less than thrilled. That carried throughout the night. I LOVE the pair of HDN112's. They perform HUGE!!

When I switched to the CN2x12, It was familiar and in ways I felt it might have 'cut' better in the mix. But its voice was more mid forward. Playing alone side-by-side, I preferred the pair of HDN112's. In the band mix however? Its sort of a toss up. The CN212 "cuts" through a band mix wonderfully. But it comes at the expense of sounding more midrange prominent (to my ears)

When I switched back from the CN212 to the HDN112 stacked pair, There was more low end in the HDN112 pair.I also felt like the HDN112 was not 'quite' cutting as well in the band mix. As the night wore on, I switched back and forth a little bit. But by the end of the night, I am loving the HDN112 stack, probably a bit More.

Long story short; I LOVE the pair of HDN112's and I think I like them more than the CN212. But both are highly gig worthy!

Does anyone else with a pair of HDN112's or REF112's notice the alignment of the handle on the top of the cap is different? Just a curiosity. I ordered my second Bergantino HDN112 from another dealer since my local dealer didn't have one in stock and I needed it quick. The handles seem to be 90 degrees off. Works fine, but seemed a little odd. I'll take a photo and post later.

I own the CN212 and agree it seems a little more mid focused/forward as the deep lows and hefty low mid punch are not as prominent as I experienced with the HD or HDN cabs. While the CN cabs do take EQ well, their primary speaking voice is inherently more centered in the mids to my ear.

I actually think the HDN cabs sit well in a mix (from an audience seat) and carry a lot of low mid punch, but up close tend to sound less present in the mids when you're used to a CN cab. Either way though, you've got a top tier rig!

Very well stated. That's exactly how I hear the CN cab. Your point about the HDN cab 'seeming' less present also mirrors my initial perception. But it sure sounded great and my band mates commented how great the bass sounded. I was expecting them to say I was too loud. LOL ..But nope. Rich and supportive. That is what the HDN cabs deliver.
