Best area of Florida for gigging - may be moving there!!!

Looking at moving to Florida: Orlando, tampa area, Miami, etc... I have some freedom on what area - what is the best area for gigging bands, lotsa clubs booking, etc? I'll be looking to jump in with a local band... what area is the most live-music active? Thoughts from local working bassists?

Not much over here in PC/PCB. I've heard that Orlando is great - you have Disney, and tons of corporate style gigs; I've also heard good things about Miami... Good luck!

I have no idea about FL, but find somewhere the tourists go in the winter so you have steady gigs year round.

There actually is, if you have the skill set, a lot of work around Orlando, Disney and the Cruise ships.
If you are like me and just want to bang around in a bar band...I get the sense that the suck is pretty uniform throughout the country. My town has a significant amount of work for single / duo things. That doesn't really transfer over all that well into the "band" work. The universities are fertile ground
