Best Short Scale Flats for the Mix

Hi, I havn't been able to find a thread about short scale flats for the mix (drum/guitars), so I'm firing this up as I really want to get wiser from your experiences! There are threads about long scale flats / mix, but I'm not sure it translates into short scale flats.

When I say mix, I'm thinking of flats that have a strong mid presence. I know this can vary from the band context and their settings, but in general I feel (low-)mids often work, so that is what I'm looking for. I'm personally playing most kinds of rock and 'indie'.

I should say that I've already ordered GHS Precision Flats for my short scale Talman, as one user recommended them in the Talman club. I was close to ordering the TI flats though, but their loose tension threw me off. However, I'm still curious as to what flats the majority of TB short scale users prefer to fit in the mix?

When I use them, I tend to stick to......GHS Precision flats. They do the job well. However, at least for what I do (traditional hymns to modern contemporary) I have found more for my liking GHS Pressurewounds. I also have used DAddario Chromes which are also excellent, do SIT well in the mix, but we're a little too much for me tension wise.

TIs have more mids, but, normally, I would not use mid presence and flats in the same sentence. Sound like rounds with the tone rolled down a bit might be a better choice.

I would say, get at least 45-105s, whatever you decide on. IME, anything lighter on a short scale can often feel...rubbery. As for the TIs? Unless your bass is a Hofner or a string-thru, they'll most likely be too long. They're what most other companies call "Medium Scale"... The short scale GHS Brite Flats would be a good choice, IMO...:cool:

@GIBrat The rubbery feel is exactly why I didn't get the TI, although I think I would dig their sound.
As I've already ordered GHS Precision Flats, I'll try them them out first. But the Brite Flats are surely next in line if they don't work out.
