Big muff too loud, pedal suggestions?

Hi, I have a bass big muff pi and I can't have the settings the way I like the because its way too loud when engaged. I love the sound of:
Vol - all way up
Tone - 3 o'clock
Sus - all way up
Mode - dry
Is there a pedal I can get which will stop the muff from going so loud when switched on?
I just turn volume down on pedal atm because I have to but it lessens the dirt and my desired sound is all way up.
Thanks in advance.

Compressor. That's its job.
That's what I thought, but I have a compressor inbuilt in my wa600 amp and it doesn't fix the problem at all. Do you think the lmb-3 boss bass limiter would do the trick? Because they are about 1/3 of the price of a half decent compressor pedal.

I can't tell you which one precisely but I'm pretty sure an amp's built in compressor isn't enough. You need more of a limiter in my view. Now if you plan to use the muff always on, any kind of device that less you put the volume down will be fine.

Don't try to fix a poopy pedal with more other pedals. Replace the Bass Muff (one of the worst Muffs money can buy) with a Green or Black Russian Big Muff clone. There's a ton of them out there. The Bass Muff totally sucks IMO. Terrible tone, awful design thanks to the Blend function being a part of the master volume. Bass players have complained about that feature since it was released, some guys have a DIY solution for it, and yet EHX hasn't fixed it in the design yet.

I bought Deluxe bass big muff pi today and it does great job for me
The Vol is at 11 o'clock (varying +/- 1 from settings) and it's the same volume as when i turn it off
About balance, it does a great job, mine is about 10-11 o'clock, since I like my dry a little bit more than effect.
The only "problem" I see is that if you change anything drasticly, it will change the volume. And some setting you don't even need to change drasticly
Love the looks, love the tone, but I'm still new to fuzz/distorded signal...

Tho on this picture vol is at 1 o'clock, I'm still experimenting (good thing I got TC Electronics Ditto, so I can tweek EHX without playing bass :) )

You could upgrade to the deluxe bass big muff. I've never had that issue with my deluxe

People diss the BBM, but with an overdrive in front and the master volume mod so you can use dry mode (or just the dlx which doesn't need it) it sounds great. I've kept it over many other more exotic muffs out there that I've tried.

You shouldn't have to mod it and run an overdrive in front of it for it to sound good. That's why people dis it, because it sucks unless you mod it and run overdrive into it - which I'm taking your word on as I've never tried the mods or running overdrive into it.

I've been through a few Muffs. My current and favourite so far is the Fuzzrocious Grey Stache with a diode switch. Would suggest giving one a go, although as others have mentioned there's a number of companies making better muffs than EHX.

I agree with you - but since my overdrive is always on and the fuzz just used to kick it up a level, it works for me as it avoids tap dancing. I've tried replacing it with a Musket, Pickle Pie B, TFR, Grand Tarkin, but none have made the grade so far. The TFR came closest and was the only one that had massive low end and could take a hot signal without overloading like the BBM can, but the blend on it seemed to be wired out of phase, rendering it useless. I've just given up looking now!
