...though not totally unexpected: The somewhat hokey/kitschy English Dance Hall novelty-tune vibe seems pretty consistent with the material on Bill's first couple solo albums.
But yeah, why now?

It didn’t sound Music Hall so much to me, but more like J.J.Cale or Knopfler type swampy boogie. As to why, probably because he was bored or wanted to see if he still had it in him. He’s 87 now, I think.
