I saw a new video by Remco

He's playing a bass made by BNJ Guitars: Bnj Guitars | Fine Handmade Basses

Remco's comments on the bass are: They make amazing, fully handmade basses. This is a Mauvais PJ model, it has a willow body, 5 piece maple/padouk neck, active Mojo pups & plays like butter.

Anyone heard of BNJ? Have any experience with them?

Yeah, I'm liking that Hex.

Do you know what setup he was using?

I asked. He said:

It's recorded with just the cam mic from a Zoom Q2. I used an Ebs Multicomp & Microbass pedal with an Eich T-1000 head & Peavey 4x10 cabinet. Over there it definitely sounded bassy

:) Gonna post more vids recorded with DI & amp mics with this bass soon, here's a straight DI recording I made before:

Thanks, this sounds much, much better then again I could have been distracted by the drummer :)

Same for me ... Italian but never heard about them ... there’s slot of artisan work going on in Italy at the moment ... I dig the P bass models although, as usual, I can’t stand pointy headstock shapes ... however the cost of work in Italy is not as low as in Poland or Czech Republic where Mayones and Marusczyk (for example) manufacture their instruments ... hence Italian products will always lose the price battle

I watched both videos ... they can’t be used much to judge the bass’ tonal characteristics unfortunately as the first one is recorded by a camera and the sound isn’t good, whereas in the second REMCO is just playing some of his overly syncopated stuff without any attempt to test the instrument ..
However Miss Mira Burger, the drummer of video #1, should really get fired :laugh:

Wow! I need one of these, but with a 2+2 headstock (current HS does NOT work with that body shape at all), simple pearl dots centered on the neck, a standard "F" hole, ivoroid body binding and a burst finish. And bring those pots in from the edge of the body a bit, cluster them into some less random pattern like a diamond. Nickel hardware.

Then you want a Drake or a Lakland
