Booking Music Festivals

Hi guys
I was wondering how do you go about sending applications to booking agents for festivals around europe?
I'm in a new three piece band, we play originals. Kind of world fusion with progressive rock and jazz elements. We're relatively new but working towards our first album currently
We don't expect to headline any festival big or small but would love to approach small festivals and try to get booked as an opening act.
Any tips?

Get a solid EPK made up (Not homemade looking, and certainly not a FB page). I know some bands who play Europe regularly, and claim that a Printed promo kit with a C.D. still gets more attention than an EPK, so maybe have both.
Find an agent with extensive European experience. I don't think you will get any doors open without reputable management/agents.

I presume you've already thought about passports and visas.
Do you have someone arranging foreign work permits?
Is all your gear (if you expect to travel with it) 220V / 50Hz compatible?
Do you know the CITES status of any wood products you expect to bring in?
Are you well-known in the US festival scene? Any scene?

So how docwe go about getting agents? We've formed an NGO in order to have easier access to EU funding for culture projects. I assume an agent is costly

We're all European so we're good there

Also no we aren't well known even in our own scene. We've only played once so far. Not trying to rush things, but it's also good to have an idea of what to expect in order to save money or apply for funds well in advance

Well we aren't there yet my friend just need a heads up to know what to expect as we'd expect to apply for funding at some point. However applications for funds only happen once a year. So basically in about a year from today since we weren't ready. However the application itself is a time consuming process and you need to allocate all the money you are entitled to.
If you read my posts, I never said were ready for anything, just looking for some feedback in order to be prepared

There's nothing wrong with being ambitious! I have to laugh a little, though. I presume (correct me if I'm wrong) that you can apply for funding as a musical artist. In the U.S., we don't apply for funding. For the most part, playing rock music in the U.S. is not considered art; it is commerce. I'm not endorsing this, just pointing it out.
