Hey guys...I am looking to modify my Ibanez bass. it's an sr305b in case anyone asks. I already have a preamp and a set of pickups in mind. and in additions to that, I would like to get a new bridge to add some sustain. I was wondering what bridge would you recommend for an Ibanez soundgear to add some sustain?

I'm not too familiar with that type of bass and the bridge it has, but it looks pretty solid. I don't think a new bridge would do anything noticeable to your sustain.

If you're dead-set on upgrading, a Badass or Kickass might be the way to go and they come in black finish. Any high-mass bridge will have an "increased sustain" vibe - whether it lives up to the hype or not is a different story.

You know my brother has mentioned something like that to me the other day when I've mentioned to him I was interested in modding my Ibanez bass. if I could be able to get better sustain with the original bridge by doing that, then I guess I don't have to worry about getting a new bridge after all. even though I have checked out some youtube clips of new bridges demoed and some seem to have improved sustain while others provide brighter tones.

I have been looking at the badass bridge and the babicz bridge. these bridges sounded pretty cool. plus there was an affordable bridge called the omega bridge and it's got a pretty warm sound. I guess I would go with a babicz or a hipshot badass bridge if I do need to change the bridge. I'll have to check on my Ibby on that.

I'd be interested in what he has to suggest. Does the existing bridge accommodate string-thru-body? Do a proper string install replete with witness points, break angles, etc. and see if that helps.

Given the bass, I don't think I'd drop any significant coin into mod'ing it. Save your $$ and eventually snag a higher-tier instrument...but that's just me.

I think it was exactly what sissy kathy said. to expody a metal block on the body under the bridge. it was either that or something about screws. I'll have to ask him again about that.

as for the bass, I don't intend on selling the bass to get a higher-leveled bass. I happen to like the bass for it's playability, it's light-weighted mahogany body, and it's color(which is navy metallic). tone-wise, it's okay, but I think a new set of pickups like barolinis would make it sound better. so I am definitely interested in modding this bass.

Okay so I've recently tested out my Ibanez bass and the strings are pretty much dead. which might be the reason for the lack of sustain. but I still plan to modify it with some new parts like a new preamp and a new set of pickups. if however I do plan on getting a new bridge, I would most likely would go with either the badass bridge or the babicz bridge.
