Double Bass Cab for AI Clarus 601 IA

Looking for recommendations for a reasonably priced cab to accompany my DB, Fishman Full Circle and AI Clarus amp head. I'm hoping to find something I can use in jazz jam sessions with anywhere from 3 to 8 musicians in a mid sized venue. I'd love to hear suggestions for a cab that will get the most out of my current gear.

I've browsed many threads trying to answer this for myself, but all that I've discovered is the extent of my ignorance.

How much does size, weight and price matter? What cabinets do you already have and why are they not suitable?

I see older used Hartke and Peavey 2-10 cabinets around in the $100 range, for example. I had a Peavey TX 210 for a year or two before I upgraded to Epifani and then Bergantino cabs (which I've used for over two decades now). It sounded good, but it's heavy by today's standards.

For a DB focused cab, if you have a Clarus why not get an Upshot ($400 new)?

P.S. I'm talking USA prices

Thanks for the replies. I currently don't have a cabinet. I'm building up my first set of gear since returning the loaner gear from my school. Size isn't a huge issue for me since I'm only playing once a week or less. I might be doubling on BG, but my priority is dialing in my DB sound. I'd say my budget is around $600, but I'd rather be opportunistic and buy used. I considered the upshot, but convinced myself it wouldn't be loud enough to compete with a heavy-handed drummer and horn section.

Specific models would be helpful. There is so much out there. I'm turning to the community to narrow it down for myself.

Thanks!

The Doubleshout gets loud enough for jazz. I've used it with pretty loud big bands with headroom to spare. I will say that I like it better now that I'm using it with a punchier head than the Clarus, which I owned for several years.

I've used AI heads (among others) for my upright for years, to great success.

For a long time, my go-to speaker cab was a Euphonic Audio (EA) Wizzy 12". Or two of them. They have an "old school" sound, altho they are hi-fi, that pairs nicely with a solid state amp, warms up the sound. I also liked to add a tube preamp/DI in the signal chain for additional warmth.

I also lucked into used deals here in the TB classifieds for a fEarful112 and an MAS18. Both hi-fi cabs, both pair well with the AI heads. The fEarful112 will cover most any size room, the MAS18, altho I haven't had it for long, puts out a surprising amount of sound. I've used it in a smallish room with a seven piece band and had headroom to spare. I used it in a trio (piano - bass - drums) setting backing a vocalist in a large church and it filled the room.

Good luck in you quest!
