i play bass in the band, 3 piece punk - hardcore - emo style (some people say 4th wave emo like Basement / Title fight)

im just really curious about using baritone guitar, because i want my band sound like playing with 2 guitar in live performance, but are baritone guitar can fill the bass tone ? are baritone guitar can hit the wide bass sound ?

try to find video and info about that but i cant find it

thx

Like Jbassrockboy said, they are 2 different instruments. The closest I have heard to having a guitar cover the low end register of the bass is from an 8 string guitar. Players like Tosin Abasi and Josh Martin are examples of players that do this. Tosin's band, "Animals as Leaders" doesn't have a bass player, as the low end is taken care of by the lowest strings of his guitar.

"Baritone" refers to a range. On guitars, that range extends as low as B or A, and the tuning is in 4ths like a guitar or bass. But you're losing 5 semi-tones, so even if you're able to beef up the tone for bass playing you are limiting the bass range by playing in baritone range.

A close relative of the baritone guitar is the Bass VI, which is a baritone with a thicker string gauge that can be tuned all the way down to low E, same as a bass guitar. Bass VI's have been used on some popular recordings in place of bass guitar and fooled a whole lot of people into thinking it was a bass guitar. For the most part, it is a bass guitar since the bottom four strings are in the bass range.

I agree with @electracoyote a bass vi type instrument is what you need to look for you can do chords etc. Like a guitar or you can play it (with a pick) like a bass, if it was me I'd wire it up with a stereo out with bridge into a guitar amp and neck into a bass amp.
