Ceramic to Alnico conversion

I did this on a Strat, as the precharged poles came in packs of six. Took about half an hour, and a great improvement in sound.

I've ordered several packs to try a bass.

I should note these were alnico V. The output is lower, the bass end warmer, the upper end less harsh, but with slightly extended top end.

The Strat is now complete, unstaggered poles. The centre pickup was not reverse wound, so I swapped the magnet direction. I had to dribble in wax and glue a plastic card base plate on to keep the poles in place. It sounds amazing.

I popped open a Squier 2005 PJ, but the pickups had already been replaced with a design I dud not understand. I will look at another bass to test.
