Changing Gretsch mini-humbucker to single coil pickups

Hi, I own an Gretsch Junior Jet electromatic and I'm not happy with the sound of its mini-humbucker pickups. I'd like to replace them with single coil pickups but I'm looking for some single coil pickups which fit in its holes and it's not easy. The reason why I want to do it is that I like better the brighter single-coil sound. Just a question of taste, maybe you think I'm crazy.
My luthier tried to convert the mini-humbuckers to single-coils but told me it's not so easy because of its wiring and told me to try some Hofners.
But I'm looking for info about Hofner bass pickups and it seems to me that all or most of current Hofner pickups available are humbuckers as well, not single-coils.
Any brand or model recommendation? Any info about contemporary Hofner bass pickups? (If you try to find it you'll find there's not much info available about them, even at the Hofner website).
Thanks in advance.

Unfortunately, the dual mini humbuckers that Gretsch says are installed in the Junior Jet are actually single coils. Here are screenshots from their website. Last week it still advertised the Jet as having dual mini humbuckers. This week it has been changed to single coil pickups. I'm assuming this change is in response to all of us who are pissed off that we didn't get what was advertised to us. Included is a photo of my Junior Jet with some magnetic film over the pickups. Photo clearly shows single coils.
