cheap DI box for Mono Synth

Do you want cheap or good? There's a big price difference.
Radial and Countryman are obviously great choices, but if they are outside the budget.
If you are looking for "stage" use, most will be fine.
Whirlwind IMP2, EDB2
Behringer Di100, DI400
ART ?

Direct Boxes | Sweetwater

There's also Audiopile that make some great gear. I own a couple.

well i am just not interested in the jules amp monique, reddi those high end DI range, currently looking at the radial stuff but i am not sure which is to buy. I dont mind other brand either. Below 100 will be perfect for me. Also not looking at the lower end brand like behringer and stuffs.

I've got several cheap passive DIs, purchased from Seismic Audio, that I use for open mics. Never had a problem with any of them. They have 3 pad options (0, -20?, -50?) that in theory allow them to be used in a speaker chain (I haven't tried that myself).

I use a Radial J48 myself, but wasn't about to spend that much $$$ on a bucket-full of DIs for other people to use at my open mics! I'm happy with the Seismic DIs for their purpose.

Do you even need a DI?
Just plug the synth output to a line input on the mixer.

True, but if there's a snake that may not be an option.

Just make sure the DI is built solidly and you're fine - the imp2 is good as mentioned. I replaced the transformer in mine with a cinemag a number of years ago and that made a big difference too, but stock it was fine.

I've seen a lot of the cheap ones, such as pyle, etc, crap out on gigs. But when they work they sound fine. Worth the extra few dollars for something solid.

And the radials, as mentioned, are fantastic if you want to spend a little more.
