I was on the hunt for a cheap Ricky copy, and I ultimately went with the Dillion Ricky off of Reverb. Then i saw cheaper Chinese Ricky copies on Chinese Whole seller websites, but I have heard they are notorious for stealing identities and bank information. I think I did the right thing in going with the Dillion. Thoughts?

If you order from Aliexpress you should be safe. You use their equivalent of Paypal so you're not exchanging bank information with the seller. Pay attention to the specs of the Ric copy and the reviews though. A lot of sellers don't get the scale & pickup location right.

I prefer to use Linux for any online transactions now, as Windows is by far the most relentlessly targeted OS. I believe the established wholesalers are safe (ali baba has a green light in my browser), and the ID theft is primarily via Windows spyware (especially expired editions but by no means limited to them).

I also prefer to deal with US-based sellers most of the time. The shipping time is brief, and any communication with the seller is (usually) much easier. Alibaba is best for if you want to buy 1,000 guitars, then brand and resell them.
