So I ponder on buying either a Joyo Analog Chorus, which is a Boss CE-2 clone, with just a rate and depth control like the original, or a Valeton Aquaflow Vintage Chorus which is a Boss CE-1 clone, a bit more expensive, but would give me more tweaking options as it got both a rate, depth, tone and mix control, and true bypass on both pedals.
Now there are a few demos of the Boss CE-2 used with bass that I could get a fair impression of how it would sound, but very few demos of the original Boss CE-1 used with bass, and non of those that really left me much wiser.
Only one bass demo of the Joyo Analog Chorus and non of the Valeton Aquaflow Vintage Chorus, but judging from the YouTube demos where they are used with guitar, they sound pretty much exactly like the originals.
I actually once owned the original Boss CE-1 and I seem to recall that beside the horrible tone sucking buffer in it, which won't be a problem with the clone, since that is true bypass, it sounded no short of amazing used with bass, plus the Valeton clone of it would give me a lot more options for tweaking the chorus to my liking than the original's one knob combined rate and depth control.
Anyone who has experience with both models, either originals or clones, eventual Boss CE-2w owners, since that pedal got both models build in, who will be able to help me choose between the two, like giving me some answers on what the main difference between the character of the chorus effect the CE-1 and the CE-2 produces is, which of those retains most bass, which is most lush sounding, which works best for bass in your personal opinion and why e.t.c?
And no, I am definitely not buying a Boss CE-2w just to avoid having to make a choice, since I don't have that kind of money to spare, especially not on something like a chorus that I currently only will have use of for 2 songs.
