It's a heavy wood, most of these all walnut '82 Precision Specials are in the 10-11 lb. range. Mine is a bit lighter at just under 10 lbs. but it's no lightweight.

I bought one of these brand new in '83 and to this day maintain that it was the best built Fender bass I've ever owned.

Now, I normally don't join clubs, but since this one was started by @gsgbass who sports some great lyrics in his avatar, I just have to dive in...

My '70 Gibson EB-0L in Walnut, the (Blackberry-grade) picture was taken when I first got it. It currently sports a Hipshot bridge and is tuned BEAD with Le Bella Super Steps rounds, 70-128.

And a more recent shot from the back

This is Mom. She's a swamp ash body with Claro walnut top made by Andrew Drake in honor of my mom who was a mezzo soprano/classical pianist before Alzheimer's.

This bass is incredible. It's 32 scale, zero-fret, ebony fretboard with two Bart Js and four individual piezos, one for each saddle. The Fishman sound card pre amp eats batteries, but it sounds so good I bought rechargeables.
