Compressor with Rob Allen bass?

Curious if any folks use a compressor with their RA basses? If so, which one do you prefer?

Having had multiple RA's and now with the Deep 5 I currently own, I found that compression took away from the tone. Rob's basses are really kind of a wonderfully finished tonal product with his design imo. However, I always use a high pass filter as they can be a little boomy in the low end.
