Hello everyone !
I just received my new cort GB74 JH and i should celebrate but unfortunately this bass is really heavy ! 4.96 kg !!! for a 4 it s really heavy !
I don t know how it is possible but i saw a corean review of the exact same bass where it s weighed at 3.78.
I ve got a bad back (hernia) and it has to go back.
here are two links. the first one is the corean review where you can see at 3'50'' the bass weighed at 3.78, and the second one is me wheighing the exact same bass (black for mine) at almost 5kg !!! my scale is working fine cause i wheighed my active jazz at 3.9 kg.

How such a difference can be ?
are the reviewed bass "selected" to increase sales ?
Is it a valid reason to ask for a return and money back (the seller didn t mentionned the weight) ?
i emailed cort and i m waiting for a reply.
Do you think that it s acceptable for a brand to sell such heavy basses and with such weight disparities ?
thanks

My 03 Cort P bass weighs right around 13 lbs (5.8 kgs). I dont have a problem with it. The only way I could see you getting a return out of it is if it is detrimental to the playability of it and renders it useless to you. Although I dont think the seller nor Cort would be happy to oblige with a return for this.
But, being with your back issues as severe as a Hernia, it may be doable to sort out some sort of return. You may end up paying for all shipping and fees.

Most sellers and vendors have a pretty strict return policy, especially now that Covid is out there. And I would say the majority of them dont classify “too heavy” as a valid reason for a return, but this being said, does the seller have any other basses for sale? if so, are the weights clearly listed in the listing for each bass? If all of the other basses that the seller is selling have listed weights than it would make it a much easier return process to be able to say “All of your other basses have weights listed, mine does not. Its too heavy and I would like a return”.

IMO I would try and sell the bass if you really dont want it, does away with all of the hassle of attempting to return it, the only thing is you most definitely wont get your all your money back.

thanks for your imput HG1180,
May be i should change the thread because the heaviest bass is your ! 5.8 kg ! damn.
We sometimes play 3 hours gigs and i would nt be able to stand with such a heavy bass for 3 hours !
I m not used to deal with this seller but i m gonna ask him to take it back and at the same time i will try to sell it locally.
I m still surprised by the weight difference between two identical instruments ! 1.2 kg more is a lot !
