"Dad Rock," "Dad Rap," the young vs old beat goes on

After reading several TB threads on "Dad Rock" bands, I was amused to see this story in the Wall Street Journal:

"Hip Hop's Generation Gap: 'Emo' vs. 'Dad Rap'

Now that hip hop is the biggest music genre, at its age of 30+, it shows signs of aging just like rock did in its later trajectory. The most interesting idea here is that rap is facing a "schism" between younger and older consumers that threatens the gravy train of concert revenue from older talent. Rock Legacy acts are in the money. Apparently, Legacy Rap is not. As they say, "Never trust anyone older than 30."
