Darkglass A/O ultra VS. vintage ultra v2

Hi,

I play mostly rock, pop and funk on a Fender American precision 5, stainless steel strings and like light overdriven, fat sounds.
Also I want to use it with headphones and would like to have the cab-sim as an option.
Once I tried the A/O ultra, but thought that the headphones output was a bit too quiet for my liking.

Question no1: Is the headphone output louder on the vintage ultra v2?

The thing is: If I cranked the master on the A/O, it distorted unpleasantly. (with the distortion circuit turned off, preamp mode only) If I cranked the sliders on a eq band too high, it distorted too.

Question no2: Does the vintage ultra 2 do the same thing and distort unpleasantly in clean mode, when you crank the master volume or equalizer bands too high?

Thank you very much!

The headphone output volume is controlled by the master slider: if it’s too quiet, turn it up.

None of the sliders will cause any distortion: if you’re hearing distortion without the distortion channel engaged, you either have a defective unit or your headphones themselves are being pushed too hard.

For what you play, vintage ultra 2. the alpha omega ultra is more for metal. I mean the vintage ultra 2 can also be used in metal. it just depends on what settings you use. as long as you keep the eq controls steady, you should do fine.

The AO is most definitely not “more for metal”:
