Hi all, I've been up all night watching B3k V2 demos after I contacted Darkglass regarding the mid boost button. See I got Mandela effected and didn't realize that the 2nd version of the b3k doesn't have the grunt and attack switch.

I own a B7k Ultra, I thought I might find a use for the 750hz and 250hz mid settings and admittedly I probably do need to mess with the EQ more but I usually just run everything flat or maybe a slight boost somewhere, nothing I couldn't do without and the pedal is inherently scoopy even with mids dimed on the EQ.

I'm worried maybe the attack switch set to boost mode has more mojo but that is kind of what prompted this post in the first place. If the tone knob can do everything that the boost switch can and I'm not really using the EQ to extremes I'm considering downsizing. I have liked what I've heard when the mid boost is engaged in the limited demo clips. I'd love for anyone who owns or has owned this pedal to chime in if you have an opinion, especially if you've played multiple products from the BxK line.

I don't have the EQ curves someone generated a while back handy, but with your mid knobs dimed you're definitely not getting 'scoopy.' There are a lot of low mids carved out in the drive tone, but you've got 12db on tap with the Ultra Eq.

I'm a V1 B7K and M500V2 guy - so I don't have the mid switch, but I do have the tone knob on the head. The tone knob is, for me, far better that the old attack switch. I would be 80/20 between flat/attack on the B7k, while the tone knob feels a lot more musical around it's range - I'm generally between noon and 3, sometimes lower when I make the rare jump to the vintage circuit. It's taming or boosting the inherent brightness of the circuit, vs. pretty big boosts/cuts to highs.

I think the new B3K is probably the best 'stomp box' dirt you can buy.

Thanks for the reply, dimed was the wrong word choice as I don't use much EQ. I'll probably sell my Ultra off and snag a b3k and if that doesn't do it for me/too scooped I might try an A/O series. Happen to have any opinion on the A/O?

I like the AO - I have the original. Alpha is more scoopy, almost 'buttons in' tube drive sound, sorta 90s vibe. Omega is fuzzy, full range, much more mid presence. Can get super clanky, or I actually smooth it out/get more of a vintage dirty amp vibe blending the drive modes and rolling off a bit of treble.

I prefer the drive character and overall tone of the BXKs, but I would love an Alpha/B7K blend option.
