Both are priced around the same. The GK comes with three 12AX7 tubes.
I'm wondering which is the better buy? From the videos I've heard of the GK, it sounds amazing. Darkglass products to me are killer. But... which one would you guys buy?
I've been leaning towards the Darkglass until I discovered the GK today.

I traded my GK 500 Fusion for the GK 550 Fusion. Same three tubes but totally different inside. Liked the headphone out on the GK500, and the tiny size. Carried it in my gig bag. Thinking it was 5 lbs or less. I would have probably kept a GK800 Fusion if I had bought one instead of the 500.

Here is what I play through, a picture is worth 1000 words.
Rock on.

I like GK amps and own the MB-200. I haven't heard the Darkglass amps in person, so I can't really compare them. When they first came out, I was very interested. However, they seemed to be designed with their heavy cabinets in mind. Not sure if the new ones are any different. I picked up a Mesa D-800+ and couldn't be happier.

Is that sarcasm? If not please explain how it's better than the un-named (please name) GK's you've tried.

Nope, not sarcasm. I just don't like the sound of the GK lines. My first exposure was with the 1001 series and I have looked at what Guitar Center had in stock. I really like Norm Stockton's playing and he uses GK but it is just not what I like for me.

as always, YMMV.

That depends. If you want to run clean with a bit of breakup, then the GK would be the best choice. If you want lots of distortion, then the DG would be it. Actually I think the GK with a DG pedal would be a more versatile rig. IMHO.

This is exactly the kind of shootout I've been looking for. I own the DG M900 v1... and I'm completely underwhelmed with it. It's clanky and lacks any bottom end, the EQ points around the high mids are in weird spots, so I can't cut the frequencies I used to with my old peavey SS gear. I'm seriously considering moving it on in place of a GK Legacy 800 or similar if I can find one (they're rare here in Oz, whereas the DG gear is a dime a dozen here).
