[DB] New post doesn't appear at all in "Hot"

How to get traction on a new post ?

I posted in the Recordings forum on the DB side. The DB side isn't overwhelmed by activity, there is an average of one new post every two days. However my thread never appeared in the "Hot" section with filters set for DB content only. As a result I think nobody even saw I posted something, not a great way to start a discussion.. is this normal ? I don't think people really browse the "Latest post" section. I'd understand in the BG side that not every most makes it to the Hot page. But on DB we are already low in activity, if posts like mine don't even reach the Hot page it's sad.

I think it has to get a lot of responses and views to become Hot. You can't start off hot if you know what I mean.

To me it makes no sense when I apply the filter for DB, and the 12th post saw its last activity 10 days ago, but a brand new post won't even appear. I also use reddit which has a similar hot/new mechanism, and in forums with low activity, a new post will make it to the "hot" section even without response. Of course I understand it's not the case for high activity sections of the forum such as BG. But we have already enough trouble to keep the DB section lively to not be hindered by a broken algorithm.

I've noticed this too. It's slowing down the DB activity.

Looking into a solution for this. If I can’t fix it I’ll get with the software dev to change the algorithm

Troy, we can't have it both ways. Since DB threads have been now been showing up on the Hot feed, there are *going* to be "BG" members seeing it and posting to it as well.
