Death by Warlock

I was scanning photos of BC Rich Warlock basses tonight for nostalgia purposes. I actually owned one in the 1980s when I played with a metal band - an NJ that I loaded with EMGs.

Obviously the look aims to invoke some manner of sinister, medieval thoughts, like the ridiculous gothic Bowie knives that you see for sale on the home shopping networks late on Saturday night. (God, it’s painful admitting I know about this stuff.)

Made me wonder if anyone has ever used one of these things in anger - maybe fought off a mosh-pit participant or maybe even an invading horde of soft-jazz musicians.

This is the picture from Google images that really made me see the battlefield potential of the instrument:

Not me and not a warlock, but my dad told me a story of when he was playing an elisted club (he was a marine).
The singer and a table of men got into a argument and next thing he knows he is holding his Kramer Alum Neck guitar like a baseball bat preparing for incoming. The MP's just happen to be there at the same time for something else and "calmed" things down.

Just a Warlock Bronze (low priced model), so it doesn't have the standard Warlock headstock. I picked it up on a lark for really cheap. I was originally just going to make copper tips for the body points to protect them from getting chipped. I ended up raiding my garage for little parts that I could stick on it. It's kind of a Mad Max style, complete with super ugly propane torch soldering jobs on the copper tips and the copper "exhaust header". It plays just fine. I have been known to take it to rehearsals where it is totally inappropriate for the style of music being played.

Needs some gears and a steam-pressure gauge: make sure that gauge goes to 11 or better!
