Talkbass crashed just as I hopped in the car on my way to pick this baby up for a little over $300 CAD plus a drive to the city.

but today she truly came home to me. CanadaPost dropped off 5 DR Legend Flatwounds, which she now proudly adorns.
I spent a little elbow grease and some 0000 steel wool to smooth a bit of the round-rash all over the board. I don’t know as this one has ever seen a humidifier in a Canadian winter - but after the smoothing I bathed the smoky jatoba in some Fret Doctor bore oil, and then strung her up. D&G needed to be raised a bit at the saddle, but other than that the setup feels pretty good.

anyhow, here’s what you all really came here to see: FULL FRONTAL NUDITY

nice score! your ax looks beautiful --- and it looks like it's ready to serve and to partner! congratulations on your new instrument!

thanks so much! I’m super impressed with this bass. The preamp might eat batteries but I play unplugged most of the time while chasing kids/pets/paycheques. The signal/noise ratio is much nicer with flats for this!

anyhow - this is my first - active bass since the high school’s I played 20 years ago. The preamp is awesome.

Nice acquisition! I have the 4 string version with GHS flats on it, they are very very nice basses.

The battery lasts for ages by the way! Mine still has the original in it and it was built in 2016 (I bought it new in 2020)

For real? That’s awesome! All I’ve read are complaints about battery life so far. I was just figuring on getting a high capacity rechargeable one.... so this is even better news!

I have one too...I'll agree, the best fretless deal because the quality and sustain, it's a valid fretless unlike some other budget ones. Mine has Labella Tape wounds right now, sound is excellent but the tension is too low on the B and E so I'm thinking of Cobalt Flats (which I find rougher than a nickel round wound) or maybe Blues. I Just had to raise the action and give the truss rod a small loosen for the change of season. The only debate is, is the headstock Poseidon's harpoon or an actual fish fin
