did i just blow up my walkabout?

I did something stupid-
im sitting here at home and I plugged my speaker cable from my cab into the effects loop on back of my WA instead of the speaker jack (they are side by side). now my amp isn't working properly. a very low volume. I checked the cab with another amp and its fine.
no smoke or funny smells or anything.


any advice/ideas?

Your amps probably ok, try cycling a 1/4" plug in your effects return jack a couple of times to reseat the internal normalling switch.

If by chance your amp has the effects loop has a bypass switch, check to see that it's not accidentally bypassed.

I also ran some deoxit on a jack and inserted the jack into the effects loop on the advice of a friend and so far so good.
so you're telling me because the effects loop (likely never been used) was dirty and when I put a jack into it for the first time, it protested? man you learn something new everyday around here thx.

we see that all the time in our amp repair shop (from any brand), the unused series effects loops jacks getting slightly oxidised or whatever and no longer internally passing the preamp signal through to the power amp.

Yes, this sometimes happens. Nothing to do with your mis-patch.

Very common. Some ppl leave a 3" patch cable in fx loop. ...others (like me ) don't.
