Sugar Daddy is a song I always liked. Love the bass riffs.

Just trying to gauge my progress here .. Gonna forego tab for learning by ear. Played along with the song and figured out the riffs after 3 spins. After about 6 spins I'm almost there. Just have to nail the changes down..timing is fine. Took about 30 minutes.

So how would you rate the difficulty of the bass lines in that song ?

Anyway you want to define it is ok. Scale of 1 to 5, intermediate, etc.

Here it is...

I think it's across the hump and into intermediate territory. Nothing super hard, but some tasty playing that is decidedly not root-fifth stuff.

Very cool that you've just about got it worked out. Next step is to figure out WHY he's playing what he's playing--what is he trying to accomplish, and what tools is he using to do that.

Thanks for taking time to reply.

Figuring out why he's playing what he's playing will be tougher than figuring out the riffs. For me it will.

Interesting question though.
