Disassembly of Fender Rumble 40 v3 combo.

The input jack on my Fender Rumble 40 v3 has become intermittent. Can't seem to gain access to the amplifier assembly. Pulled the speaker, removed every visible screw that attaches the front panel/amp assembly to the tolex cabinet. I expected the unit to just drop free. The amp section refuses to budge. Don't want to force it or use tools to pry it out. Has anyone removed one of these? How did you get it out? Thanks...

I can't help you with dis-assembling your Rumble, but I had a similar problem (intermittent input jack) on my little Acoustic B20 practice amp. Of course the amp uses those awful (in my opinion) modular plastic board-mounted input jacks. I unsoldered those and mounted standard open-frame jacks in their place. It fixed the problem completely!

Aren't the v3 Rumbles built with the amp chassis mounted at the top and back of the speaker cab, with the amp controls on top? The chassis is just an L-shaped piece of metal, you've probably just overlooked some of the screws.

Yes the input jack stress points are usually at fault. And yes resolder or replace with a standard jack and tie into the circuit board with 20 gauge wire or equivalent. Rumbles do utilize that L shaped chassis. As far as I know, dont think I over looked any screws. Maybe its ultra wedged into the tolex? Just didn't want to get forceful with this and do cause damage. thanks for weighing in.

Just had the same experience with my Rumble 500 v3 combo. On the 500, the chassis is removed by removing two screws near the corners on top one on each side and 5 screws across the bottom of the metal chassis. I looked at my Rumble 40 and it is the same except there are only 4 screws across the bottom ion the metal holding it in place. Good luck. I may be doing the same fix on my 500 in the very near future. I am pretty sure it's no longer in warranty.

Correction to my statement above. On both the Rumble 40 and Rumble 500 there are:
2 Screw on Top near the back corners

2 on each side towards the back

4 metal screw at the bottom of the chassis

After taking it apart and disconnecting from the speaker. I used my special Fender crappy jack repair tool

By inserting the narrow tip through the opening in the inside of the jack and did a calibrated realignment of the contact bar. (I bent it back in to the proper location.)

I did this on the Rumble 500. From what I saw this POS jack is soldered to the circuit board and not shown on Fender's parts page.

Good Luck
