Hi there,

Just bought this combo second hand. It had a distorted tone from the outset (sound like I'm going through a fuzz pedal), plus it cuts out randomly but mostly when I hit certain notes D, on the G string in particular. Nothing I do on the instrument or on the amp seems to make a difference and I have the same effect on both my fretless bass and EUB. Same effect on both passive and active.

Interestingly the amp sounds quite clean if you turn the gain and output up full whack. I expected some fuzziness but not too bad.

Any advice would be most appreciated.

Thanks

Rob

Thanks.

Just out of interest, any idea as to the cause?
If I had any idea I would have shared it. Something in the signal chain is playing up. It is very mysterious that upping the gain clears it up but only nearly there.

Actually that is a clue it could be that pot acting up but I am not even a tech's toenail so good luck taking that to a tech.

You will be paying a bench fee of maybe 50 or 100 for opening it up and running it down. Then $ for parts and more labour for fixing, if worthwhile. If fixing costs more than the amp is worth you are still out the bench fee.
