I'm learning a different instrument but its quite rare so tuition / books/ you tube of any kind is hard to come by and not in English. What success/ failure have you guys had?
i've never tried but skype lessons, or any other kind of lesson depends on how good the teacher gets his information across. choose a reputable educator to get your money's worth.

I've taken Skype lessons and they work out really well. I plan on taking Skype lessons again in the future. If the teacher is good then the Skype lessons will be good.
I took Skype lessons for a couple of years. It worked well for me. What I like about it is you have access to great bass teachers that may or may not be available locally.
Skype, IMO, would be even better because it's interactive.
I'd say go for it. Take a few lessons, and decide for yourself. I have to guess that it has everything to do with both the teacher, and the student. Each experience will be different.
