Do you screw your Dimarzio P/J pickups down lower than typical?

In consideration of other vintage style output pickups. I ask this because I've tried Dimarzio P/J pickups a couple times and found them to be way too harsh, but I may not have lowered them enough to get the sweet spot out of them.

What is your opinion on this?

I found a demo of these pickups that sounds really good to my ears, but the ones I owned never sounded this good.

Ok, so the guy who made that video above chimed in on how he achieved that tone with the Dimarzio DP126 P/J pickups. Here's what he said:

"I chose 1MOhm pots, otherwise the treeble bleed too much. PU height was typical, much like the original pickups setup."

This is a radical choice most people don't consider, typically opting for 250 or 500 K, but it really sounds like it brings out the best in these beastly pickups. The tone speaks for itself. Now I know how I'm going to run these when I get them.
