I will try that, thank you for the suggestion.E-mail Hipshot and ask them. They are very knowledgeable about their own product and have a well-deserved reputation for great customer service. I would imagine they would have an answer for you.
How could I tell what size ultralites I need? Plus would I have to drill holes to mount them?I don't think you're going to match on the back. From the front, I'd say the M4 looks closest.
Might be worth looking at replacing them all with ultralites.
This is Japanese, and they feel very good quality so I doubt that, thank you for the easy comparison though! Those look like Chinese knockoffs of Schaller M4S tuning keys.
Hope this helps.
Just saying they're probably not cheap chinese copies being on a 1986 Japanese Charvel.Doubt what? That they are knockoffs of a Schaller M4S?
Would an EB-4 be a pretty direct fit? I presume the pins are in the same place, just front mounted not back mounted.@Charlie Cullen ....your tuners look like Grover Titan types. The matching Hipshot Xtender would be the EB-4, black. As best I can tell they are no longer in production but a few show up for sale in a search.

Brilliant, just took it off and the pins are an exact match, thank you very much for showing me, really helpful.Pins are as they should be. This is a chrome EB-4 I have with a regular Titan type tuner it replaces. If your black tuners match the one on the right the EB-4 is a bolt on replacement in the E string location.
