Does anyone know this book

Hello, a few years back I was taking bass lessons. I still have the copies of the pages the tutor gave me to practice, I really enjoyed the book he used but, I cant find the name of it. Its not written on any of the pages, I couldnt find it after searching for days now. So if anyone recognizes the book, I greatly appriciate it.

Its my first post, sorry if I made any mistakes.

I was going to say, Dave Overthrow has his own Talkbass subforum, you could ask him there, whether or not this book is one of his. He is Alfred's top bass author.

Ask David Overthrow

But it doesn't look like he's been active here in a while. :(

(That said, I bet you could track him down through his social media.)

I mean, I doubt they’d sue YOU - especially if your goal is to actually buy their book.

As for the person you got them from, he did break the law. I’ve never had ANY teacher photocopy someone else’s work and give it to me to use. They’ve either told me the book to buy, or had their own work to provide.

There is an exemption to copyright for teaching (both face-to-face and classroom, and virtual). See Copyright Exceptions (purdue.edu). Don't ask me law questions because I am not a lawyer. Please don't sue me.

EDIT: This applies to US law

You are correct - had forgotten about that specific exemption. Most of the time people will err on the side of caution though.

That being said, international law is a whole other can of worms, as you correctly noted.

Still, at the end of the day, I think students are better served by actually buying the books than ending up with out of context photocopies. Opinions may vary on this, naturally.
