Dogal Hellborg for fretless?

I play a 6-string fretless Carvin, tuned B E A D G C, but I am not against drop tuning if necessary. I play classical/jazz style using fingers and enjoy harmonic tones.

I have heard about the Dogal Hellborn Signature strings with their "true tone" concept but am wondering if anyone has used them for a fretless?

I am currently looking at the Dogal JH1716S Hellborg Stranded Core, I am concerned (as always) about the abrasiveness against the neck.

I am newer to the forum so apologies if this has been asked, I searched but couldn't locate any question like this in the results.

...wondering if anyone has used them for a fretless?
i have a 4-string, active PJ fretless with dogal-hellborg strings. i only play fretless, i only use light-gauge rounds, and before purchasing i had some concerns about their gauges. but after installing and playing them i couldn't be happier --- they feel balanced to my fingers/hands, and i really appreciate their 'bendy' quality. but their clarity is unsurpassed, IMO/IME. i'm used to TI jazz rounds (love 'em), but the dogal-hellborg set is just as fun to play, and that 'clarity thing' makes them special. i'll buy again.

You rang? ;)

When I put Dogal Hellborg rounds on my 5-string fretless Lakland 55-02 last year I will admit it was a Hail Mary play because I had never fallen in love with that bass, despite its adjustability.

These were the first rounds I had used in a few decades, and I decided to use only that bass for several months, after which, I would either have made friends with the Lakland or decide to sell it.

I am happy to report that the Lakland, strung with Dogal Hellborg rounds, has become one of my favorite basses to play - largely because of the expressivness and unique voice provided by this particular pairing. :)

I hope this asnwers your question! :)

Dang! I knew this was a good forum. Ask and you shall receive...

They are expensive but I think likely worth it!

I did see the original thread but it was very very long, I kinda dipped into the beginning and then the end but there wasn't a bunch too relevant.

Thanks!
