Earthquaker Devices Avalanche Run

Hey guys,
does anybody have any experience with this pedal ? The Demos sound awesome, but I´m not sure if the lowend will get sucked up..

I saw no problem with low end through it playing a vintage russian heavy bass synth through it but didn't really focused on it.
It's quite transparent and actually I feel it boosts the source a bit rather than taking something out.

Sounds lovely on guitar and any other source. Didn't had the chance to play a bass through it though.

It's a really creative pedal and I find it really appealing as it can be played like a instrument. + I'm relieved that it's quite different form the Strymon Timeline I have.

Mind you it's tweaked to be a very ambiental pedal but you can use a expression knob to find some rather interesting short delay short reverb settings on it.

Gonna play with it some more as you opened my appetite now and will come back to confirm about the low end.
Cheers

Well the DIG does a different thing but if you already have a ambiental dedicated pedal maybe explore it to the max then think about another one.

For me even if I have the Timeline, when I saw the nice implementation of expression pedal features, the tap selfoscillation trick and the reverb as something rather unique I knew I had to get one.
Also the one knob per function and small footprint also is something to take note. You can really grab it and play it with one hand.

All I have to this point are toneshaping pedals, I had a Vortex-Flanger once, but didnt like it. The Airplane Flanger on my board finds its only use in a Intro of a song, and even there its just the crazy-whammy function.

If you would recommend a delay/reverb pedal, which would it be ?

If you like big spaces and a high quality device at a nice price the Avalanche Run would indeed be a nice choice.
It really shines for ambiental sounds, and looper like repeats.
As for the reverb but you only have a decay and a mix parameter, the mix becomes swell duration in swell mode.

This is the video that convinced me it's nothing like a Strymon:

If you want strictly bread and butter the Strymon Timeline is hard to beat in sound and features.
I always discover new sounds on it. But it does have that polished and elegant Strymon sound.
For me Strymon are like the Moog of digital pedals so you really get a nice combination between usability and experimentation with a top notch sound quality.

Another option if you wanna go all in for effects, you should demo a H9 Max.
There you can start to experiment with literally dozens of effects and see what suits you.

If you want more help let me know what kinds of sounds are you looking for.

I think it´s the Avalanche Run for me, I like the calmness and easyness of the pedal. I tried out the timeline a few weeks ago and it is overwhelming, not only in its sounds, but also in its functions, I was quite busy pushing and twisting the right knobs to get what I wanted, not always succesfully.

Thank you for your input mate !

No problem! Glad I could help.

The Strymon is the sound designer's sinkhole, you can easily get lost in all the functions and this can be detrimental if you just want to play instantly.

Indeed the Avalanche Run is a fun and relaxing pedal with a lot of sound potential in a simple and clever human interface.
You're gonna have a lot of good times with one, and for that alone is worth the entry ticket.

Be sure to try all the extra functions after you had some fun with the obvious sounds.

For example I'm thinking of getting a LFO out from the Moog Ring I just borrowed and see if I can send some modulation to the expression input.

KNOBS! Best pedal demos around, imho. No one else stokes GAS like knobs.

He is referring to the youtube channel/artist Knobs (what a name... :D) not the clustermenuflux the Timeline is.

As for the AR it states in the manual that drainage it's 425ma and it comes with a center negative 1 amp DC supply

If you find timeline owerwhelming, try the el'capistan. It does similar things the avalanche does, still very different. But much more simplistic than a timeline.
Self oscillation, sound on sound looping, reverb, expr pedal can be assigned to any knob and so on. Can do crystal clear and sort of compressed amp like dirty repeats.
Can't do those swell and reverse things, AND that's where i think the avalance starts grabbing my attention...
It's just so cool we have both eqd and strymon on the map i think.

I totally agree. These DSP based pedal makers like Strymon and EQD pack some nice sounds in these devices.

I'm about to get one. It's on my wishlist since a while now, I can't remember why I didn't buy one until now. I'll keep searching for infos before ordering, since I must check how it works with bass (how it handles bass frequencies, if it clips with active basses, etc.).
