Maybe this will help someone:
I wanted black knobs for my J-Retro because the all chrome look was a little too much for me on this particular '74 Jazz Bass. I didn't even want shiny black (like the ones that are available). I really wanted vintage style black plastic ones, but none of them fit.
So my gun-loving friend is showing me some work he did with some special flat black paint the government uses to coat Navy SEAL weapons or something. It's applied, then baked on--literally.
So after all my pain and suffering for NOT SHINY black knobs, I now have them for only $30 labor on the existing chrome ones. He took them yesterday, and I got them back today. He said "tell everybody".
Oh, and he said he can do ANY color.
