Double Bass Eberhard Weber

Good day.
While searching for Eberhard Weber pictures, I found these ones.

First I was searching for a picture where he was playing bass guitar.

Can this be a Framus BG?

And then I found a picture showing his last EUB.
I don't know the two gentlemen, maybe somwone will know.

When searching I also found the luthier who built one of his early EUBs.
Here's a quote from Steve Swallow:
At some point – I’m not sure of the year but it was after I’d played with Eberhard Weber – I bought another EB2, this one in sunburst finish, and gave it to Peter Coura, the luthier who made Eberhard’s classic hybrid instrument, who put his pickups and electronics into it.

Hope you enjoy the discovery as I did!

Hello, please excuse me for intervening in this conversation in this way, I hope it's not inappropriate, but you seem to be interested in Eberhard Weber and his EUB.
As it happens, I am in possession of a EUB that belonged to him, signed by him, which was passed on to me by my father-in-law, who has a friend who knows Eberhardt Weber and who got it that way.
I've had it for a few years now, but unfortunately I don't have too much time or too much money to try to restore or play it.
I'd bought a cheap cell microphone just to be able to plug it into an amp, as the electronics had been removed, but it would be necessary to invest in quality microphones to get something decent.
Anyway, I've done nothing with it all this time and I think it's a shame, as it could surely be of interest to Eberhard Weber's enthusiasts, musicians and/or collectors. So I'm thinking about selling it.
If you are ever interested, or if you know who I could turn to, I'd be delighted to discuss it.
Attached are a few photos of the double bass in question.
Yours sincerely

That is SO COOL. I saw him back in the Yellow Fields days, and I think by then he was already on an upgraded EUB. But to see that history is special, thanks for that post.

I had the chance to see Eberhard live in the fall of 1976, here in Quebec City.
It was an ECM evening where EW's Colours was the first part, followed by Terje Rypdal's group.
At that show, Eberhard had a six-strings EUB.
About 20 years later, I wrote to Eberhard (via ECM Records) and told him about that bass.
To my great pleasure, he replied to my letter, and told me he didn't like it, so it's no surprise we never see pictures of that bass.
However, today I think I found one!
It dates back from that era.
Enjoy!

Did he why he didn’t like the bass? Didn’t he like the sixth string or just not that specific bass?

Did he make recordings with a six string?

Seeing EW live back in the 70's was a big part of my influence to get an EUB, try to actually play it, etc.

I failed miserably.

But there is nobody better than EW, only different.
