I recently picked up a Stingray 5HS. The build date is 1/3/08. I think there is an issue because there is a big volume drop in positions 2 (bridge coil in humbucker) and 5 (neck single coil pickup).
When I took the bass apart, there were two big things I noticed. First, EBMM switched the Stingray 5 to alnico magnets in 2008. However, this one has a ceramic pickup and it’s wired in series (see photos). There also is no phantom coil that I can see. The neck single coil pickup is alnico.
Can someone tell me if I’m missing something? The guy I bought it from says he didn’t change anything on the bass, but that bridge humbucker doesn’t seem right at all.
