EBS Multicomp volume level

I am currently playing a passive Fender Jazz through an EBS multicomp Studio Edition pedal. I have the pedal set to passive and no matter where the gain is on the multicomp the bass volume is much louder when the pedal is on. Making it so I can't use it for some songs and not others because of the difference. Is there any solution to this?

Use the volume knob to dial down the pedal's output. If you increase the compression knob then I find that the volume needs some accommodation too.

You're saying with the gain at absolute minimum, the output is still boosted higher than when the pedal is off?
Couple of tests: how does the volume change when you remove the pedal from the chain? How does the volume change when you flip the switch to "active"?
