EMG GZR Precision Bass Pickup: My Video Review

A week ago, I installed this passive solder-less pickup into my *mongrel* P-Bass that I hadn't been playing much of. It's definitely inspired me to play the instrument again... a lot!

Here's my play-a-long video review to Steely Dan's "Peg" I just made with it. Tone control circuit knob set to around 50% using D'Addario nickewound strings. DI'ed into a PreSonus AudioBox iTwo USB interface (24-Bit/48KHz) and recorded live in PreSonus Studio One 3 DAW software.

"I know I'll love you (P-Bass) better..." :bassist:

Great playing, and your videos are excellent - how much (if any) processing has been applied to the audio you recorded from the bass and the final mix?

@ Harry: thanks for watching!

No FX processing on my bass track on either song. I did use a "multi-band EQ" on both the original stereo tracks (so I could shelve out the low/low-mid frequency zone) and allow my overdubbed P-Bass to sit properly in the context of the "new mix", if that makes sense.

But yeah, I'm really digging this pickup and it's tone control circuit. It's very musical and has re-vitalized my love for my old P-Bass I've had since I started playing as a kid!

Just wanted to bump this thread as I love the way the OP plays, and love the mids and bump coming out of the Geezer pickup. This pretty much answers my other thread. Great song as well.
