EMG humbuckers in bass EMG HB/EMGHBCS or ?

I have two Gibson Les Standard OSBs. The factory pickups are TB+ ceramic, guitar sized humbuckers. They actually sound pretty good, but just don't have the mid/high definition I like.

I have retained factory pickups in the "backup", but I have Rio Grande Pitbulls in my main LP.
I run volumes and tone full on and the Pitbull neck pickup as a humbucker and the bridge Pitbull in single coil mode. It's an amazing tone. THUD from the the neck & punch/cut through CLANK from the bridge.

I want to try a little something different in the other bass. Thinking about actives. I just really can't find many clips or or descriptions of what the EMG HBs sound like. EMG just seems to refer to both as P bass (to me that conjures up thump thud thump...bassy...not a lot of highs or mids).

Anyone know which pickup sounds best in which position? Of course, I know tone is subjective, descriptions vary and it depends placement on guitar, strings, playing style, amp settings...but pickups do have their own inherent characteristics when it comes to Lows/Mids/Highs...anyone know what the scoop is on these?

I actually thought about using an EMG HB in the neck, and maybe use a guitar EMG 60 guitar pickup in the bridge (I think Steinberger actually used them as bass pickups!)...Maybe even an EMG H guitar pickup(single coil in a humbucker housing)...not sure these would up with too much treble though.

Any thoughts?

I’m about to drop an EMG 60X in the neck and an EMG 60AX in the bridge of an EB0 build. Just have to build the neck first...

Wilde L90 are another fantastic option. They’re passive, but have loads of output and clarity. A bargain!

EMG P pickups are not thuddy, but rather articulate. If the HB is just a rehoused P, you will not be let down with a dark sounding pickup. The standard, ceramic magnet P usually needs to have treble cut to sound more like a traditional P pickup.
