Epoxy or not?

I have a fretless Fender jazz with a plain rosewood board.
Now I’m considering putting epoxy on the board for protection since I like to use roundwounds on it.
My questions are:
How much does the sound change with an epoxy board?
And is it something I could do myself as a medium handy guy? Yes I know Jaco did it himself but I don’t want to risk destroying my board …and is there a specific brand of glue you can recommend? .

Coating a fretless fingerboard tends to make it sound 'brighter', more 'reflective' or 'glassier'. Especially if it's polished to a very smooth finish.

I think Pedulla used some type of epoxy when he was still building but not absolutely sure. My long gone Jazz bass was done with the tape dam method using CA and it worked out very well (although I didn't do it myself).

Seems logical that the sound could get a bit more bright with a snappier attack. Maybe less warmth though but on the other hand a fretless bass may gain from getting a bit more brilliance in the attack since it's a bit slower by nature.
I think I will ask a guitar shop to do the actual work though :)
