Fellow SansAmp Bass DI users, Help!?!

I'm wondering if someone here has dealt with this problem. I'm tring to record my bass through the SansAmp Bass DI directly into my Delta 66 audio PC interface. The problem is I'm not getting a good volume, the VU meters show a good signal comming through but as far hearing it there seems to be very little volume. I've tried tweaking the dials which doesnt help much, I usualy end up with distortion from the signal clipping eventhough as far the ears go the volume is to low. Any ideas? What are you guys recording your Bass DI's through, do you run it through a mixer before the recorder? Thanks!

Which output are you using? I think I did notice similar level problem. If you use one of the 1/4" outs it's level will be rather weak, they're meant for going into a combo amp. Use the XLR out and a matching converter if you have to, see if that helps.

I've never use an XLR before, but it sounds like its worth a try. Is there anything I should know about the XLR out? What kind of cable do I need and where can I get one? The converter would be for making it go into the 1/4" input on my Delta 66, right? Thanks, youve been very helpful!

Man, now I'm pretty sure that's what it is. You'll want a regular microphone cable (male-female XLR) and an impedance converter (which also converts to 1/4"). Don't buy cables that are XLR on one end and 1/4" on the other, you're better off with separate converter.

If you have a preamp you COULD use it to amplify your 1/4" signal, but BASS DI is a preamp, so that doesn't make too much sense, does it? If you don't have a preamp just get the cable!

You might want to read you manual again more carefully, I think they explain that stuff there.

Hope it works for you!
