But I noticed that instead of putting a rosewood fretboard on the P bass like they did the Mustang and J bass, they slapped on this ugly maple neck. Every time Fender releases a color I actually like, they put a maple neck on whatever the things is that I decide I want. I love and hate this company all at the same time. I swear them off, then they lure me in, only to pull the football away when I go to kick it.

Just buy two basses, one in the colour you like, one with the neck you like.
Swap necks and sell the 2nd bass as a "personalised custom special edition"

Then you have the bass you want and a profit*

*actual profit may be imaginary

If you expect us to just use our imaginations, you need to paint a much more vividly detailed word picture....

Doesn't look any different compared to other turquoise or daphne blue, robin's egg, etc. Now Fender's dark night finish? THAT'S fantastic.

I can only imagine the agony you're going through with this affront, it must be devastating. :sorry:

Positive vibes out to you for a speedy recovery!

🤔 Hmm..hey they look pretty darn nice. I wouldn't mind having one, myself. Thanks for the GAS! ;)

Sweetwater has this one at a very nice weight, too. :woot:

Maple looks way better on that blue. Especially since they don’t finish painting the headstock. A Fender bass doesn’t need 4 different colors, objectively.
Maple? So many more advantages…

Generally speaking, maple fingerboards go so much better with colors IMO.
You can see maple ten times better on a dark stage.
It isn’t super porous like many rosewood boards.
Lighter weight wood as well, so less neck dive.

I cringe at dark fingerboards unless it’s a big contrast on the body color (whites, naturals).

Honestly, it’s not a huge deal, I just prefer the look of Rosewood. I know if I see it in person, I’m probably going to play it and then buy it.

I like the Miami Blue on the MIA one with the maple neck, but those necks are much thicker, which is the reason why I was looking into the MIM line.

I don’t think I’ll ever find a P bass that is “perfect” to me. I’m ready to just settle because I’m tired of waiting.

Reminds me of my MIA P Bass in Miami Blue. Mine has a maple neck and fretboard and it’s stunning in person!

I agree that the MIA P necks are chunky (they’re a 1963 C profile). My bass’ neck profile makes me slow down while playing, but I do prefer a thinner profile.

On a more positive note, I love the satin feel of the back of my bass’ neck, how the neck matches the headstock, and the modern B Width (1.625”) at the nut.

Have you ever considered going with something other than Fender?
