Fender 2014 Proto Precision

I just noticed that on the back of the headstock on my 2014 Proto Precision
it says "PROTO 1214" next to the Fender Custom shop logo.
I called Fender Customer Service and asked what that means.
They said they did not know.
I know that it's not the build date (12/14) because it was made in June of 2014.
I also know that it's not the model because it's called a "2014 Proto Precision".
Could it mean #1214 out of XXXX made ?
Or something completely different ?
I'd appreciate any answers as to the meaning of "PROTO 1214".

Love it ! It's contoured like a new Precision, but has the look of the original. Plays and sounds great too !!!
